At Pacific Workers Law Firm, our work doesn’t stop in the courtroom.
Recently, our attorney Yuvanna M. Díaz was in Sacramento, speaking up for injured workers during an important conversation about potential changes to a program called the Subsequent Injuries Benefits Trust Fund (SIBTF).
Why This Matters for Injured Workers
SIBTF is designed to help workers who already had a disability before getting injured on the job. It provides additional support for people who are often at a greater disadvantage.
Right now, there are discussions about possible changes to this program, and those changes could directly impact the benefits many injured workers rely on.
One concern is that these changes might be introduced quickly through something called a “budget trailer bill,” which can move faster and with less public discussion than other laws.
Making Sure Workers Have a Voice
That’s where advocacy matters.
Yuvanna, who also serves as Vice President of the East Bay Chapter of the California Applicants’ Attorneys Association (CAAA), took part in these conversations to help make sure injured workers are not left out of the process.
“SIBTF exists to protect injured workers who were already at a disadvantage,” Yuvanna shared. “Any changes should be transparent and include input from the people who are actually affected.”

More Than Just Legal Representation
Advocacy like this is an important part of what we do.
It’s not just about handling cases, it’s about helping protect the systems that injured workers depend on.
We’re proud to see Yuvanna representing both our firm and the broader community, standing alongside other advocates to push for fairness, transparency, and better outcomes for workers across California.
